Housing Choice Voucher Program Wait List Update

The Fort Worth Housing Authority established the HCVP Wait List in September 2011 with over 19,000 applications.
We are currently processing numbers #1 - #110.  Applicants who fail to appear for their appointment without notifying the housing authority on or before the date of the scheduled appointment will be removed from the waiting list.
We cannot estimate when we will get to the next numbers on the waiting list. This information is updated regularly on this website. Please do not call the office for this information. We appreciate your interest in the Housing Choice Voucher Program of the Fort Worth Housing Authority.

Applying for Public Housing

How to Apply

To apply for public housing, please complete the Application for Public Housing available in English  and Spanish.

 
Copies of the Application for Public Housing are also available at the Housing Authority Administration Office and at any one of our public housing sites during our regular business hours, Monday thru Friday from 8:00AM to 4:30PM.

Waiting List

The waiting list for public housing is generally shorter than the Section 8 waiting list. Applicant families who qualify for a local preference shall have preference for admission in accordance with the Admissions and Continued Occupancy Policy (ACOP)

To Be Eligible, You MUST:

a.                Qualify as a family OR be 62 years of age or older, OR be disabled or handicapped, OR be an eligible displaced person; displaced by government action or by a federally-recognized disaster, or be a single person under 62 years of age, not disabled or handicapped (elderly families, disabled, or handicapped persons and displaced person receive preference over single persons.)

b.                Meet family income guidelines.

c.                Pay any overdue accounts or money owed to the Housing Authority from a previous tenancy. Repayment of money owed from a previous tenancy does not guarantee eligibility.

d.                Have a total family income of no more than the following:

Applicant Must Complete the Entire Application:

a.                   All spaces must be filled in. If something is not applicable, write “N/A”.

b.                   Incomplete application WILL NOT be processed.

Return Application:

1. Return application to the management office by U.S. mail or hand deliver it to 1201 E. 13^th Street, Fort Worth, TX 76102
    

2. Applicants will be notified by mail of the date and time an interview will be scheduled.
