Over the past several years, the Housing Authority has been challenged
to implement the changes mandated by the Personal Responsibility and
Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1996 and the Quality Housing
and Work Responsibility Act of 1998.The intent of these regulations
is clearly to move welfare recipients into work and off assistance,
emphasizing existing FWHA objectives. We are not merely providing
decent, safe and affordable housing, but acting in a broader scope so
that our customers are able to access supportive services.
The FWHA has been diligent in efforts to support and maintain
focused service programs that:
- Establish effective partnerships
- Leverage resources and expertise
- Build relationships with employers and,
- Promote homeownership
Centering on this success, Ms. Holston's foresight and leadership
has lead the way for FWHA to transition from traditional public
housing to affordable and private sector housing that is scattered
throughout the city of Fort Worth. |
