Service to Clients

The FWHA’s Resident Services Department is responsible for assessing the needs of residents and coordinating resident-focused programs that encourage them to achieve their highest level of economic and social independence. The department links program participants to much needed vocational, employment, and educational training, transportation, daycare, health care, and other ancillary services.

Educational Training

FWHA’s long-standing partnership with Tarrant County College (TCC) has made tremendous strides in providing valuable academic services and training to the community. TCC collaborates with FWHA to provide ongoing vocational and occupational training. These certificate training programs include GED, Adult Literacy Classes, Computer and Business Careers training, Medical Reporting and Certified Nurse’s Aide (CNA) Training.

The Fort Worth Public Library has satellite libraries located in two FWHA housing communities. The satellite branches at Butler Place Apartments and J.A. Cavile Apartments are open to the public and offer GED preparation, literacy classes, tutoring, children’s story times and resource information.

The FSS program is offered to both public housing and assisted housing program participants and is designed to assist the unemployed and the under-employed with becoming self-sufficient. Participants receive case management and access to additional education, job training, counseling, volunteer experience, healthy lifestyle behaviors and other life skills. The ultimate goal of FSS is to eliminate the need for all government assistance.
