The FWHA’s Resident Services Department is responsible for assessing the needs of residents and coordinating resident-focused programs that encourage them to achieve their highest level of economic and social independence. The department links program participants to much needed vocational, employment, and educational training, transportation, daycare, health care, and other ancillary services.
TARRANT
COUNTY COLLEGE (TCC)
FWHA’s long-standing partnership with Tarrant County
College (TCC) has made tremendous strides in providing valuable academic
services and training to the community. TCC collaborates with FWHA to
provide ongoing vocational and occupational training. These certificate
training programs include GED, Adult Literacy Classes, Computer and Business
Careers training, Medical Reporting and Certified Nurse’s Aide (CNA)
Training.
FORT WORTH PUBLIC LIBRARY
The Fort Worth Public Library has satellite libraries
located in two FWHA housing communities. The satellite branches at Butler
Place Apartments and J.A. Cavile Apartments are open to the public and offer
GED preparation, literacy classes, tutoring, children’s story times and
resource information.
The FSS program is offered to both public housing and
assisted housing program participants and is designed to assist the
unemployed and the under-employed with becoming self-sufficient.
Participants receive case management and access to additional education, job
training, counseling, volunteer experience, healthy lifestyle behaviors and
other life skills. The ultimate goal of FSS is to eliminate the need for all
government assistance.
